1.1 How did the world look like before design thinking ?

Key learnings:

  • V cycle: “We deliver when we can deliver”: Method of project management (primarily big ones, but it can also apply to smaller ones). You submit the detailed specifications and feasibility studies at the beginning of the project to the development team. You wait until seeing the final result.
  • Product centric approach: “We build what we know.” You build or develop the product your company is capable of doing. And only afterward do you worry about finding final customers.
  • Final-target centric approach: “We want the cathedral.” Companies aim to immediately build the “cathedral,” meaning the best solution possible with all the options for their project. However, that’s the best way to fail to deliver. It’s too big to build, and the means are often too small to meet the demand.
