Example of application

The company’s only expert in making micro-holes in aircraft engine combustion chambers has left the company. The company now needs to find a replacement in the marketplace, but the skill is so specific that it is difficult for the company to find a replacement. But if they do find a qualified person, they will still have to spend several years practicing before they understand the ropes and will have to wait even longer for that employee to reach the same level of productivity. This costs the company a lot of money to train the new employee. In addition, the company will have to pay late penalties on the first deliveries that are not compliant.

Formalizing the knowledge of a company’s experts is a way to avoid losing a lot of money for a company by accelerating the integration of new employees at a lower cost.
